British Large Cent tip

Postby AGgressive Metal » Thu Mar 24, 2011 4:45 pm

I just realized today that British Large cents (and their equivalent large cents from Australia, NZ, British East Carribean, South Africa, etc) fit perfectly in US half dollar tubes. So if you want to stack these safer than loose but less time consuming than 2x2s, I think this is the way to go.

Haha yeah, that's cool. I used to have a tube full with BU full red British pennies dated 1964-67. Wonder what happened to it...

Interesting that topic has been brought up. A friend of the family (now 84 years old) told me a few weeks ago that he used those large pennies in slot machines during the Korean War. This was somewhare in the Far East. He said he kept playing until he was getting the ones back as winnings that he'd just put in the machine. Quite a novel way to fill ones pockets with half dollars.
