Don't get misunderstand me, I think what the people in this case did were wrong to break the law and to lie about the history of the coins. That being said, I disagree with that fact that discoveries like these don't go to the people who found them to use as they like. Museums have warehouses full of stuff that will never be seen by the public and will never be studied. I get it if it is something that will further our knowledge if it is studied, but in the case of the coins from Israel, what is to be studied? What do the people gain if they are never displayed in a museum? What is lost from display if they are? An example of this is the Smithsonian, 155 million pieces. Less that 1% on display. In many cases it is government greed, entitlement and a sense that they know better than the public. My 2 cents.
