Anyone interested in British Coins & Notes ?

Postby NHsorter » Fri May 27, 2011 3:54 pm

I have 18.25 pounds of assorted British pounds. Coins are all mixed dates from the 60's through the 80's

1 x 5 pound paper note
1 x 1 pound paper note
8 x one pound coins
4 x 50 pence coins
13 x 10 pence coins
4 x 20 pence coins
3 x 5 pence coins

Current exchange value of over $30 FRN's. Does anyone want to make an offer?

I can throw in free shipping and Qty 5: Two Shilling Coins from the 60's as well if someone wants to give me 30 bucks for all of this. Or trade me for a peace or morgan dollar. Other silver offers considered as well because chances are I'll just end up converting any money that I get from this into some sort of PM anyway.

Uthminsta is a member here. He like world currency, especially British stuff.

Figured he'd chime in here...

Sorry, I was away from the comp for a couple days. I would be interested in any coins on my wantlist, but not the lot as a whole. I would gladly pay OVER their exchange value, plus shipping, if you are willing to sort through it to find a coin or three that I need... but I totally understand if you don't want to take the time to do that. My wantlist is in my signature:

Sorry to tell you the "new pence" coins are obsolete but the 20 pence and One Pound coins are current. Most of the early decimal coins were phased out by the mid-90s. (except the one and two pence coins).

Thanks for the info on what is obsolete.

Uthminsta, I checked your want list and I don't have anything for you. Sorry!

Since some of this is obsolete, I can let it all go for $20 if anyone wants it. Where can I go to exchange the stuff that is still good? I am in southern, NH. Hopefully I don't have to go to Logan Airport to do this!

I think you will find there is no US bank that will exchange foreign coins unless it is Canadian coins on the Canadian border or similar system with Mexican border. ;) That is why I set up my foreign coin service in the WTT section - this group may be too small for it to be economical to send my way, but I take any size group. I pay my listed rate on coins and notes are negotiated case by case.
