Short Snorters

Did you ever hear of a "short snorter"?

These were done by WWII soldiers during a mission as a good-luck talisman. One of them kept a dollar bill signed by the entire crew, and after all made it back safely, that person had to show the dollar upon request. If he had spent it, all buddies that had signed it who were in the bar right then could require that he buy them a "short snorter" -- or a good stiff drink.

Just saw a couple of these on eBay. They look really neat with all of the signatures on a vintage silver certificate that has experienced history.

I've never heard of this, but it sounds pretty cool! Sadly most WWII vets are dead and gone now, or else you could track some of them down!

Do a search for "short snorter" on eBay. It turns up some interesting notes.

On Pawn Stars last week they had a Short Snorter signed by Clark Gable and other crew members, do not remember the asking price but they did not make a deal...
