Kennedy half question

Postby 4 bit » Sat Jan 14, 2012 10:17 am

I was looking at the NumisMedia Fair Market Value Price Guide and saw that it lists 1983P, 1986P, and 1986D halves as being worth $1.15 in AU58 condition. Can this be right? I see a lot of 1983's and 1986's when I search half rolls and most of them are quite nice looking. Should I start saving them?

With a mintage alittle under 11 million, I used to save AU-BU 83P's but they were a tough sell. The best
I could ever get for BU's was alittle under AU price. Others may have had better luck than I did. No matter
what any price guide says, you still have to find a buyer. ;)

Follow them on ebay and see if there's any action.
....not a fortunate son.

From the grey sheets wholesale bid pricing:

1983P BU roll: $64.00 ($3.20 per coin)
1986P BU roll: $55.00
1986D BU roll: $60.00

These are BU (brilliant uncirculated) prices so $1.15 for AU-58 seems reasonable. Should you keep them? If you don't mind stockpiling them until you find a buyer. Just a couple of hours ago at a local auction, I sold 23 unc halves...(2001,2004,2005,2006, P's and D's) for $18.00. A lot people like halves and they don't have easy access to them.
