1924 D and S grading help

Postby Engineer » Mon Feb 06, 2012 12:28 am

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to teach myself to grade, and would appreciate a little help from those of you who actually have a clue of what you're doing.

The D mint looks like it may have been cleaned at some point (not recently) but looks closer to an F12 than a VG8
The S mint seems to have less edge wear than the VG8 photo, but has fewer details on the pole and feathers.

These are the grading photos I'm using for reference: http://coinauctionshelp.com/How_To_Grade_Mercury_Dimes.html

Any thoughts from the experts?

One more for consideration. AG or G4?

I'm such a novice I'd hate to guess at the grades. I do like the pics on pcgs photograde though.
