1899 Morgan

Postby Rob72830 » Fri May 18, 2012 8:53 am

Just wanted to share with everyone the great deal I got on ebay for this 1899 Morgan graded MS 62. Even though it was graded by ICG, they are a pretty reputable company from everything I studied. Anyway, the 1899P is the 7th rarest Morgan and can still be found a lot cheaper than all of those CC dollars that have way higher mintages. No luck on pictures. My scanner doesn't scan worth a crap and the pictures I took with my camera are too large to download. However here is the link to the ebay listing that has two good pictures of my new coin.

If anyone has any advice on how I can take pictures and not go over 256 kb or a scanner that will scan good pictures, I will be glad to listen. Have a great day everybody. :D

Glancing at other '99 completed auctions on eBay. Can't see anything else MS that sold that low. Nice pick up.

Thanks guys. This is the second key Morgan I have bought. Last month I bought an 1888 S in AU which is #13 on the rarity list of Morgans. I have set a goal of completing a set of all 17 Morgan dollars with mintages of less than one million. I know I will never complete it but I am sure going to have fun trying to. Wish me luck.

Why so negative? You are well on your way to completing that set; you've already started and that's the most important step. You can do it! You've got a good start, and that's a great coin.

Good luck and congrats on the nice coin.
The obverse is OK but the reverse is great!

Silvereye, I didn't mean to sound negative, just realistic. The 1895 is listed as a proof only coin with a mintage of 12,880. Numismedia gives a value of $16,380 in G4 condition. At that price, it is out of my league. I would be surprised if there were more than one or two people on Realcent who have one. Thank you for your encouragement and maybe one day I will have one. Right now there are 14 other Morgans to concentrate on finding.

Fb101, thank you. Even though it was graded by ICG and from what I read, ICG is a reputable company, does anyone think it would benefit being cracked out and sent to PCGS or NGC? I was just wondering. Thank you.
