Putting together a Full set of walking liberties

Postby mtldealer » Fri Mar 23, 2012 3:05 am

I have decided that I want to put together a full set of Walking liberties minimum grade MS65 graded by PCGS. Can anyone recommend who to buy from? Anyone selling anything that fits this bill?

Good Ole Ray usually has some Walkers up for sale on the Weekend Silver Sale. You might want to drop him a line. The man bleeds silver.

Deep pockets needed...A MS60 full set is worth excess of $57,000...probably triple that for an MS65 full set....

Actually triple is way off....probably closer to 10 times or around $500K for a full set of MS65....

Keep an eye on teletrade.com they have slab auctions every Sun,Mon,Tues, & Weds.

In the bingo playing days I was getting close to a set of Walkers. Then I realized I was a junk collector.

Interesting note, looking at coin fmv, interesting that the 1919 D is coming in at 133+k at 65. Figured the 1921s would command the biggest price. Might have to check out the PCGS and NGC pop reports on those.

To get coins of that magnitude, a 1919-D is going to cost you over $125,000 by itself, you need to work with bigger dealers or bid very strong at a major auction. Ray doesn't have any of these, I can tell you that :)

Top dealers to call (not in any order really):

And here are the major coin auction houses:

I am... The big price items are going to have to wait, but I think that with enough time and patience I'll be able to put together alot of it. Thank you for the above suggestions.

Start a PCGS registry set. That helps keep me motivated. Buy coins that you need....BUT.....with eye appeal you like.

Good luck man.....It's do-able.....with time. Keep me posted.

One of the rares is up for sale in the next LegendMorhpy auction.

50C 1919-D PCGS MS65

These don't come up for sale very often so you better jump on it!
