Paid $6.00 for this bag of Pennies. How'd I do?

One of the regular tellers at my dump bank asked me if I'd be interested in buying some steel 43's that she had. I told her "sure" bring them in, then we'll discuss price. Yesterday she had them and told me she didn't have as many as she thought, but she just grabbed her tray of wheats from home. I looked at couple wheats, saw a 30 and 40, but saw a couple AU steels and all the wheats were about average. I just did a quick count of the coins came to 55 and decided to offer her the 6 bucks, a little more than I figured the bag was worth, but wanted to stay on her good side. She jumped at the 6 so fast, I probally could of got it for 3. Anyways, got home and checked them, this is what I got:

47d
43 x 10 (2 au)
43d x 5
43s x 3
42
41 x 5
41d x 2
40 x 4
40d x 3
39 x 2
38
37
37d
36 x 3
35
30d
26
25
20d x 2
17
11d
09
09vdb x 2

I was shocked at the 09's I triple checked them, but, no S. I'm not a coin dealer, but thinking I did ok?

Just one of the 1909 VDB is worth the six bucks to me. And you are both happy (you and the seller) and thats all that counts.

Very nice. It seems those 09 VDBs are more common than the normal 09s... I used to think they were rarer than the normal 09-S!
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

You did very well. The 09's and the 11D are are worth at least $30.00 and probably more depending on what grade they are.

Thanks for the responses. I was surprised to find the VDB's in there, but was thinking they might be worth a bit more. In all my (Short) time as a sorter, I've only found 1- 1909 plain, in the wild.

Nice! When you saw those '09s, your face must have been like that esteemed gentleman serving as your avatar.

Good for you.

Thanks. Your post reminded me to call the bank and ask them to hold some bags for me tomorrow.
