The funny part this coin would have not been sent in if I had my way. A few months back I asked Barry if he could help me out on sending a couple of error cents in that Franklin had found and he was more than happy to send them in for Franklin. Barry also said that Franklin could pick out a couple more coins to send in and Franklin said he want to send a left over 2012 cent from a mint set and I told him that it was a bad idea. Franklin at 16 and for the lack of terms Franklin has autism started to fall apart when I told him that he should send something else in. So it was a battle not worth fighting and it got sent in. Looks like he was right.

NICE job on Franklin's part, and congratulations...but the rotation of the reverse in the picture still offends my OCD.

Last years mint set did not ship to us until June so the penny holes were filled by then so it looks like it was the best $27.95 spent. It is fun to get the mint sets to fill all the holes.

From-- http://www.realcent.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=15365&hilit=mint+set+2012
We filled 28 holes today! We got the 2012 Mint set in today.

I did not know that a 2012 cent could be worth $850, as PCGS values this.
time to change it into some silver?

Since it is a top pop with a population of only 8 and is also the main coinfacts coin I would imagine it would be relatively easy to get the full $850. Maybe more. I didn't check auction realized results but top pop moderns go for really high premiums in general!

Here is an EXISTING eBay auction and it's already at $1,200 with 3 days remaining. (And this isn't THE coinfacts coin, of course ;)

So this came. Out of a mint set or bank roll? The pcgs has it listed as a regular strike and all the coins from mint sets are burnished. Amazing find by the way
