'81 D quarter- what is up with the mint mark?

I got this in HI. Is the mint mark just worn?

Looks like a P mint mark. On early half dollars the mint mark was very small and hard to read. Maybe quarters were the same way.

My bad. I did not remember the P being on coins that early.
