I found this guy today. I'm not an error guy. I know very little about them. It's a 1981 as I think you can tell from the scan. Any thoughts and comments are welcome. The reverse is normal. Scan doesn't really do it justice but it's pretty odd. Please tell me it's worth a lot

Looks like a struck through die cap. Caused when the coin sticks to a die and strikes another. Unfortunately not worth a bundle. But some collectors will buy them.

i would need bigger & better pics to see exactly what it is. From what I can see it could be struck through a capped die or it could have been smashed by a hammer.

Post a scan of the reverse also, it will help with identification.
This is a good example of the "Struck Through Die Cap".
