All you need is to figure out the macro setting. Look for the little flower in your menu. That's the macro! That's for up-close pics! :D

I have found a few of these and tossed them in my "Cool" box. Nice collection. I have a soft spot for the ones that are cutout.

Hi All, Sorry for neglecting this thread...

NumisPam - did you get the macro setting to work? I'm not amazing with cameras but I'll offer any advice I can. The owners manual for your camera is almost always online if you don't have the original.

Silvereye - I like that one as well. I like the non-state stamps the best.

SilverSnake - Congrats on finding some. It's funny how random it can be to notice a counter stamp. Had you not flipped the coin or something like that, you could have over looked a sweet find.

Happy Hunting!

Found a 1974-D penny counterstamped with the state outline & AK (Arkansas?) in it this weekend.

Nice find John. Tuck them away and don't let them back into your general pile :)

I've gone through enough coins to accumulate well over $1000 face of copper. I check them all for oddities and old coins before bagging. Never found a counterstamped coin yet.

I find that a bit hard to believe Jade... I think one or two may have slipped by you while you were blinking. :P

I found an older nickel with 3 H's counterstamped on the obverse...no idea what they stand for though.
