I have looked at the price history of Mercury full band dimes in mint state, and I see that in the last 7 years they have lost value by as much as 50%. Seems like its time for a rebound. I have been buying full band mercs for a month now. Not like I got a boat load or anything........I have 10...MS-64 ... MS-67. Comments?

hard economic times = less free cash available = lower prices on most collectibles = huge long term savings for the savvy = Dan is a smart guy ;)

hard economic times = more money for the rich actually

The problem is you are buying what are often called "widgets". I.e. you can get 10 of them any time you want from any dealer.

Had you instead bought 1 MS 1916-D you would have likely seen a price increase (although I don't follow Mercs very well right now).

High end coins have been going up up up.

Mid range coins have been much more stagnant and in many cases down.

economics stagnation being what it is, people are cashing in coins for food. And they're more likely to have the common ones that the rare ones.
Barrytrot is correct, but supply of commons is increasing and demand is decreasing.

I need to get me a sign: "I will work for mint state Morgans". I shouldn't be making fun. I could fall on hard times myself.
