While sorting a box I picked up from the bank last night, I found this:

It also was struck thru grease because on the reverse some of the letters are ghostlike and at an angle they almost disappear.

I know my scans aren't that great but in person this coin looks BU. I am excited about finding it. I know its not an Indian or S VDB but I am happy nevertheless. I know this is a semi key but does anyone know if the struck through grease add any value to it. If I can get a better scan I will try to upload it. Thanks. Btw, this was after I found my lucky SBA yesterday. :D

Thank you. I am not really sure about what it is worth but I know its more than the one cent I paid for it.

It's the last year for the "S" mint until 1968...but I don't think it's a semi-key.

That's weird. I went through $100 worth last night, and found a really nice 1955S too. Brilliant uncirculated... I've never seen a wheat that nice before in change. They are certainly a thrill to find! Good pics too.

Congrats on the nice find! On the reverse, does yours look like it was struck thru grease? If it does, maybe they came out of the same batch? Good luck. On Thursday I pick up 2 more boxes. Anxious to see what awaits to be discovered!

North central Arkansas. Box it came out of was Loomis, I believe. Did not have Brinks printed on it. Maybe someone can do a where's Abe poll for the unc 55-S?

In Texas, I found a 1955-S in impeccable condition at one point last month too. Odd that there have been so many occurrences mentioned of the same kind of coin. Nonetheless, a very nice specimen you have there.
