It may be one of Dan Carr's earlier pioneer gold pieces. Look up moonlightmint.com

No, I'm not even sure of that. It is to be offered in a local auction this Sunday. It wouldn't be the first time I have seen an auctioneer allow people to think something was gold when it wasn't. The preview is on Friday, so I will go and check it out then.

As to the Don Carr thing, yes I am checking his web site out now. He does have some brass items.

Thanks,

Well I went to the auction today. It was described as a "Indian Head penny set in key chain". Well it wasn't an Indian penny, but I think maybe it was just a bronze token of some type. It ended up going for about $15 (with auction fees).

I did however buy a 1865 maximillian gold Mexican coin. Paid about $22 with fees. Good thing, as it may only be about 1/100 troy ounce. This thing is tiny. I will try to post a picture.
