Are these wheat cent errors?

Postby DuckTales253 » Wed Dec 26, 2012 9:07 pm

I just got a brand new Dansco album for my Lincoln cents and was going through my collection. Trying to move the best specimens from my various albums and folders into one master album. Along the way I found two wheat cents that appear to be errors.

There was a 1930 that appear to have been the result of a die crack.

Then there was a 1945-S with good details on the reverse, but the "O" of "ONE CENT" was so weak it seemed to be missing. Surrounding details are fine.

Could you check out the attached photos and let me know what you think? If so, is there any added value?

Coin #1....nice looking "greaser"!

Coin #2....the crack looks new for lack of wear....but is that extra metal above the crack by the "O" in "ONE"? Very odd.....but interesting.

Either way.......nice finds!

Grease filled die, and defective planchet.
Neat coins.
To answer your later question, there is possibly SOME added value. I would suggest putting them in a 2x2 and marking them with the error type. Use other "normal" coins for your album.
