I was down to 10 coins left to complete a Lincoln set, and 10 coins left to complete an Indian set. So I made a physical list of them and went to the local shop to price them. I walked away with this.

That's a pretty decent example!

It's a full rim, so I guess it's a full good. I always look for strong, easily readable dates, even if there are other minor flaws.

I would think VG really. The detail is quite crisp on the front.

Other than the top right which is weak. Other than that a very full look.

What's grey sheet for a VG8? Or 2013 red book? I figured it was worth what I paid.

Greysheet and Red Book => both worthless for coins like this.

Interesting. Why do you say that?

Humm I'm thinking if you paid between 8-12 bucks maybe a tad more, you did just fine. Like Barry says thought, price sheets are worthless when it comes to something you want/collect and has the eye appeal that your looking for....

Yeah. I have a pretty narrow band: affordable, mostly problem free, strong date...
They have a 15S for $12 I was thinking about getting next.

Because they are totally wrong.

For one reason (and there are others): There is a huge difference between this coin, probably VG and one in PCGS plastic that says VG8. Certification alone costs you more than the coin so obviously the price guide cannot take that into consideration very easily.

Redbook is almost always 20-30% high. There are very few things that they get close on.

Unless you are looking at the "certified" greysheet they do not go off of graded coins. The latest greysheet puts a 13 S valued in VG at $13.50 which is pretty dang close to accurate!

ME: ...a 15S for $12... HIGHROLLER: G$14 VG $22.50

Thanks. Since we're talking about the source of price quotes, what is yours?
