So where does it grade....or does it?

Lets have some fun. BTW, there is no wrong answer, silly one maybe, but not wrong. The coin is raw.

I think it is better than AU55. Maybe 62. Is that a dent in the middle band?

Its gonna stay raw and be an upgrade for dad's dansco merc collection. Current coin is a mid-XF, so this is a nice replacement.

I will do a "guess the grade" for my next submission lot if you want. That would be fun.

No idea on grade.
Is that the one you bought for $7 in the KSA?

Without seeing the other guesses I was going to say 63 or 62.
But, after looking at the other guesses I feel the need to change to "Authentic details ungradeable"
Can't really tell from a picture!!
Probably looks much better in hand??

AU55 cleaned. Looks dipped. Maybe it's the pics, but I don't see metal flow lines.

Complete guess: AU58 Cleaned.

My other guesses are based on cleaning method:

1) Autoclave, we know who has one ;)
2) Ultrasonic cleaner (The bath thing that the jewlery stores have)
3) Shot in the dark: Toothpaste

I forgot to post my guess. MS-63 FB. Sure it was "cleaned"...but it was done right. The coin looks to be an early die state with minor flow lines, a strong full strike, and no die cracks. The original mint luster was always there, I just lifted 97 years of gunk to let it shine again. No hair lines are noted and the luster flows unbroken from fields over the high points of the devises.

I know its tough to grade from any photos...and I get to hold the coin in hand so that is kinda like cheating, but I am still happy with the "guess the grade" responses. Nice work crew. :)
