Wow! Bought a Reservation!!

I bought a collection off a friend of mine in the dansco 7101 Indian head cents book.

First the book is in good shape and my favorite. There is just something about the Dansco albums I have really liked and I think just having coins in them makes the coins more "stylish", really cool you know?

Starts out with 3 flying eagle cents:
1857 (my guess VG)
1858 Large Letter (my guess VG)
1858 Small Letter (maybe date is HARD to see)

Then the Indian Heads in the book:

1859 - (my guess VG)
1860 - (my guess G)
1861 - (my guess G)
1862 - (my guess G)
1863 - (my guess VG)
1864 - (my guess G)

Bronze:

1864 - (my guess G)
1864 L - (my guess G Probably just a filler since letters are worn from band)
1865 - (my guess VG)
1867 - (my guess G)
1874 - (my guess G)
1879 - (my guess G)
1880 - (my guess G)
1881 - (my guess G)
1882 - (my guess VG)
1883 - (my guess G/VG)
1884 - (my guess G)
1888 - (my guess G/VG)
1889 - (my guess G)
1890 - (my guess EF/AU)
1891 - (my guess VG/F)
1892 - (my guess F/VF)
1893 - (my guess F)
1894 - (my guess G)
1895 - (my guess VF)

1896 - (my guess G)
1897 - (my guess EF/AU)
1898 - (my guess F/VF)
1899 - (my guess VG)
1900 - (my guess F but VERY nice bright rainbow toning!! Very beutiful!!)

1901 - (my guess VF)
1902 - (my guess G/VG)
1903 - (my guess G)
1904 - (my guess VG/F)
1905 - (my guess G)
1906 - (my guess G)
1907 - (my guess G)
1908 - (my guess EF/AU)
1909 - (my guess G/VG)

1909 - (my guess G/VG)
1900 - (my guess G)
1904 - (my guess G)
1903 - (my guess G)
1909 Wheat RD - (my guess AU)
1907 - (my guess G)
1901 - (my guess G)
1903 - (my guess VG)
1902 - (my guess G)

All that and the book. I got him into collecting coins and watched him build this set, which is quite frankly MUCH better than the set I had, plus his was in an album. We do a lot of trading and work together on some things.

What he asked for it? Seventy five dollars!! I had to pull money from my "A&M Silver Funds" to purchase it, but I bought it for the children and I think it is a good long term investment for em.

I've had this for a couple of months now, and just sat down and looked though and graded them, not compiled values, just thought I'd share. :D

I recently took a stab at one of these folders on ebay. I ended up winning it at $83. It wasn't full but some of the IH's were in great shape..full liberty and even some diamonds showing. The flying eagles could have been better, though. But at $83 it was a steal. I bet I coul put 5 or 6 of these on ebay and get my money back. I just can't decide either to fill it up or...shoot...I don't know what. It did have a couple filler ones..and I got a couple of filler ones from this forum. But yours is more complete than mine. I like 'em! I really like 'em!

Mine was in a Whitman folder. It had:
1857 eagle-vg/f
1858 large letters-ag/g(cleaned?)
1858 small letters-ag/g(cleaned?)

1859-g
1860-f+(full liberty)
1861....missing
1862-f(liberty)
1863-g
1864.....missing

1864-g
1864L....missing
1865-g+(partial liberty)
1866-g
1867-ag
1868....missing
1869....missing
1870....missing
1871-ag
1872....missing
1873-ag/g
1874-ag
1875-g
1876....missing
1877....missing
1878....missing
1879-f(full liberty)
1880....missing
1881....missing
1882....missing
1883....missing
1884-g+/f(partial liberty)
1885....missing
1886....missing
1887....missing
1888....missing
1889....missing
1890-f+(full liberty)
1891....missing
1892....missing
1893-xf/vf(some luster...hot looking)
1994....missing
1895-f(liberty)
1896....missing
1897....missing
1898....missing
1899....missing
1900....missing
1901....missing
1902-f/vf(sharp sucker)
1903-f/vf
1904-f/vf
1905-f/vf
1906-vf/xf(another sharp coin)
1907-f/vf
1908-f/vf
1908S...missing
1909....missing
1909S...missing

In all, 28 coins with the three eagles and some very good indians. I have a small tribe myself to fill at least half of the missing ones. I still thought this was a steal at $83. I'm not that great at grading. I try to see examples of slabbed coins and am trying to learn that way. Some of these coins will grade better...some will grade lower. I was very conservative in the grading. Still deciding what to do with this.

I've never looked at that before. I guess I'm very conservative. Thanks for that link!
