http://www.ebay.com/itm/1829-Large-US-C ... 1c41e821deCan anyone here explain why this happened. Is this some rare variety? I mean it's a nice coin but?

I just can't see anything special about it.
The pictures are also kinda lousy.
I have a much better example I will be listing soon. I would have been happy to get 50 bucks for it.
I am a bit more optimistic at this point.

Perhaps some of the sellers friends acted as bidders and have been artificially inflating the price?
Creating a false bidding war, hoping some willing newbie will take the bait?

There are different varieties and some are scarce. And even rare in better quality examples. Not sure which one this is but I can tell it has small latters on the reverse. The "1" in the date could be a rare variety. I see the owner of the link I posted has a few 1829's for sale....one listed at $220 and it's no where close to the details of this $460 coin.
