My LCS always gives out older coins when they make change...today they gave me a 1938-S Jefferson (unintentional I'm sure). They have given me 1938 Philly-mint nickels before, but this was a nice surprise. This is the third-lowest mintage Jeff, so I can fill a hole in one of my Jeff folders. Made my day!

Congrats on your find! My LCS will give out BU 1950's-1960's nickels in change once in a while. A few times wheat cents and dateless buffalo nickels were also given as change.

Mine gives gold dollars, half dollars, and $2 bills. Not worth anything, but I guess a lot of coin shops like to make their change interesting...
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.
