Whitman penny books ??

I found in my late dad's stuff two penny collecting books. #1 - 1909 to 1940 and #2 - starting 1941

The first book has 23 empty slots, the 2nd is complete up to 1972.

Looking in the 1st, the empties are the low-production number coins. The lowest that are actually in the book are:

1912-D @ 10.4M
1921-S @ 15.3M
1924-D @ 2.5M
1924-S @ 11.7M
1928-S @ 17.3M
1932 @ 9.1M
1932-D @ 10.5M
1933 @ 14.4M
1939-D @ 15.2M

Can anyone give me an estimate of the value of this collection? The coins are circulated, some are fairly worn, a few have visible damage.

Sad to say, citing the condition of the cents and the lack of any scarce ones... you're probably looking at $5 for the collection and it's doubtful
any LCS would offer you more than face value for it. A totally beginning collector might offer you a bit more. Try offering it in the KSA's for
your best opportunity at recouping a decent value. Or just save it as a keepsake of your Dad's to pass down to future generations. It probably
holds more value as a memento.

numismedia.com lists the scarcest coin you've listed at a value of 15 cent in F4 condition; any others are likely worth considerably less
unless the collection happens to contain some relatively scarce cents in XF or better condition.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but the numismedia site lists a price of over $19 just for the 1924-D in good. So, as long as that date has decent eye appeal, I think the set should be worth much more than $5. Hopefully the ugly ones are the more common dates.

Maybe breaking it up and selling the lowest mintage pennies on eBay would result in the most cash?

That is a great resource to help me grade its condition and estimate a value. Thank you, Hobo.
