My son Franklin is missing that one and the 1922 Plain you want to make a trade for copper cents 1959-1982 for your 1909-S VDB.

I would say it grades close to an EF. Sure wish I had friends like that, that would sell me one of those for a good price. A very nice coin to add to your collection.

Personally I love to hear people say they are vetoing the 22- no D cent.
They are nothing but a hyped up over abraded coin like the 3 legged buffalo.
It doesn't belong in the lincoln collection anyhow. If it did we would have to
add the other hundreds of over abraded coins to complete our collections

This coin is a perfect candidate to get graded.

The king of Lincolns!
Pictures are always so tough to judge coin condition. Below are some pics of a PCGS XF40 1909-S VDB for comparison purposes.
I don't know what the backward 'S' in front of Lincoln's face is on your coin, but it may be ungradeable due to it. It sort of looks like surface damage to me. Much on your coin looks to be XF quality, with maybe just a little more hair detail needed. That aspect would probably keep it from getting XF, so a high VF is what I think you might get. Also, can't tell too well from your pics, but perhaps the wheat detail is a little washed away, too.
