Penny- Found 1914D? new pics added

Well, the last box that I cracked is playing with my emotions. I cracked one roll and had a really shiny silver back wheat looking up at me. I flipped it over hoping that it was a BU 1943S, but it said 1945. So I did have that little voice nagging me "what if" on the way to the magnet, but of course it did not stick. Looks nice though. I'll keep it for fun.

Also got an old worn out wheat and with the naked eye, I can almost make out 1914D, or maybe it is just wishful thinking. I can't get a good enough scan to tell for sure. What should I do? I guess I need to invest in a powerful loupe? Any suggestions?

Upon checking to make sure the pics uploaded properly, I noticed that the scan looks a little different in the browser... now I am thinking its a 1944D

Play with your image editing software... can you change the contrast, brightness, etc to bring out the slight variations in shading?

The scan that I posted was one that I did with the contrast cranked up. The first one I did was totally useless. I'll have to try messing with some other settings. But I have now almost convinced myself that it's just a 1944D. On a happier note, I plucked a trashed 1905 IHC and a decent 1907 out of the zinc pile last night!!!

I borrowed a USB microscope and took these images. Anyone here sharp enough to make a call on the year? Is it worth sending this in to be graded/identified?Image

the 9 and 4 look too far apart for it to be a 1914...

The spacing indicates that this is a 1944 and not a 1914. I used calipers under a microscope and compared to known 1914's and 1944's. Oh well, the search continues.
