Canadian mint proof set values

Postby Cu Lung » Tue Feb 28, 2012 8:02 pm

As the world wide web is such a large place, it's difficult sometimes to find exactly the right site for certain coins and sets. Does anyone know of a good accurate site for valuing Canadian mint proof sets??
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Proof sets from 1962 - 1967 are considered junk silver and priced accordingly. We pay the public 80% and dealers 85-90% for them.

1961's are slightly more valuable, and earlier years go into the hundreds for nice examples with original packaging.

Yup, 1962 and earlier starts to see a small premium. For just plain old nickel coinage, past 1970 starts to see premiums, peaking to 1991 with the ultra rare pure nickel-quarter.

1963 to 1969 are very unloved sets, although I do appreciate the 1969 for its low price ($4 is basically what the prooflike mint sets sold for, 42 years ago haha!) and the 1970 for the only "flower" dollar (suitable to give as a gift to a lady - without seeming strange)
