Updated 1/27 Franklin's Canadian Cent Album

Postby henrysmedford » Fri Nov 19, 2010 11:22 pm

Renamed to Franklin's Canadian Cent Album from Just filled the last hole!!!!!

My son Franklin who has autism has been looking through rolls of cent off and on for the last thee years and just got the last one he need. I got 85% in true finds 10% from realcent.org users and 5% from ebay with my help. We live in Oregon so who would have thought that it would be easier than Lincoln cent. Thanks to all of those who have helped us.

Have you seen this one that was on EBAY 1936-Dot http://cgi.ebay.com/Canada-1936-dot-1-Very-Scarce-Variety-1-/200533896246?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2eb0c06c36 it looks like a rip off. If you click on the full description it is fun to read the questions that were asked.

Franklin needs 34 more wheats to fill out the the books. He has all of them after 1940. All found out of rolls. And this year he has found three IH.

You're still missing the 2003-P uncrowned, and the 2006-RCM.

The 2003 in his book has a "P" And the 2006 Has the RCM logo . From the cover of his Whitman book "metallic composition and weight have changed several times since then. From 2002 through mid 2006, a P mark indicated that a coin was made of copper-plated steel. In mid-2006 the P indicator was eliminated and a stylized Royal Canadian Mint logo was added to the obverse of both the copper-plated zinc and the copper-platted steel cents." From from what I can see look like we have all the holes filled but not all the possible one that are out there. I found this website https://www.jandm.com/script/getitem.asp?CID=3&PID=81 it looks to me the the are more cents out there than there are holes in the book. I like the 2000 W but no whole in the book :D

I've never come across any Canadian coins with the 'W' mintmark, apart from the 1998 50 Cents that a collector in Ontario sent me,along with a Canadian Tire 1 Dollar 'coin'.

Great job...... I tried the same thing from circulation about 30 years ago when the pickings were much more plentiful. I remember missing a couple of the 1920s dates. I did find several 1936s, though. Wanting to desperately fill that nagging hole, I made my own version of the 1936 dot cent to WOW my friends. I was nearly a celebrity for a couple of weeks until one friend found a picture of the real thing. So what if my dot was in the wrong place? Alas, my approach of the ultra rare "1936 Shifting Dot" cent lacked the pizzazz I'd hoped for.

I may have a large cent or two for him. The trick would be getting them all out to re-organize so I can send him the best duplicate I have... how's the quality on those large cents?

I don't have all the Canadians from sorting and I live in Canada! Good job on the Canadian Pennies. It's going to be tough to find the large cents from sorting US coins though :) Good start though.

Hey, I just realized this is also a very valuable resource for me... it's finally a complete listing of what exactly has been made over the last 14 years... WHICH MAKES SENSE.

Do you or Franklin have a 1929 "high 9" cent? I just found my first one tonight. It was a coin I had already bought, just as a "regular" 1929. Check it out here!
