Is a Carbon Tax a Done Deal for the US?

Postby fb101 » Tue Nov 27, 2012 2:07 pm

Short but to the point.

Wait - Ths big winner is...........XON?!!!! :o :!:

Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM) is now supporting Obama in bringing a carbon tax to the US.
Why would Exxon – and other big energy companies – join forces to bring on the carbon tax?

Filthy republicans in the pocket of big oil......
and this isn't even a republican administration!

Comments are also interesting

Exxon has a bunch of natural gas. No carbon.

Why would they care if they were taxed directly? They would just pass the taxes to the customers, as do all manufacturers.

Partisan voters are people willing to be accomplices to crimes, provided they believe they will benefit from the crimes. But they are being conned and robbed. (Consider how the real unemployment rate is above 20% overall, and probably over 50% among the blacks living in congested areas, the ones who voted for Zero. Suckers. Then there's the direct effects of inflation from quantitative easing. I don't know about you, but 20oz Pepsi went from about $1 to $2 here. No telling about the rest of the groceries, and food and energy costs are not used in calculating inflation any more.)

They'd not only pass on the taxes, they'd mark them up like they do with all their other expenses. More taxes would cause their bottom line to go UP, not down. It would also show up as an increase in sales, which would raise the stock price (which would mean big bonuses for management).
