That's a moral hazard if I ever saw one. Banksters can do whatever they like, safe in the knowledge that their depositors will pick up the tab rather than letting them go bankrupt.

I see the US going to this sort of policy before New Zealand IMHO.

And nobody in the lapdog media mentions Iceland, how they let their banks fail, and put the banksters in prison. Now 3 years later, Iceland is doing ok. Yup, media, banksters, and politicians are the true troika.

When they withheld everyones tax returns, needless to say the red flags went up. Someone's back pocket is sore, and average Joe gets to foot the bill.

Why would a sovereign nation with full control over their money supply even bother? This is bound to be a PR disaster for whichever politicians vote for it. Just crank up the printing presses and the hoopleheaded masses never even notice. We have somehow been conditioned that inflation is a good thing.

AND .. the countries that they defaulted against took them to court and LOST.

Now , and it gets reported in a 1 liner on the back page, Iceland is slowly paying back the countries that the court said it didn't have to.

That, my friends is how you spell INTEGRITY.

Good for them. Wish we could have a little of that here.

+1 for Iceland. I'll have to look into that a little more - I had totally forgot about their banks failing and what became of it. Interesting.
