Canada Post cost cutting

Since the story at the USPS has been discussed here I figured some people would be
interested in how Canada Post is dealing with the loss of lettermail volume.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. They're moving with the times and you have to respect that. Interesting factoids for me were that 2/3 of post is already delivered to postal stations, and the expected price of stamps, and the re-emphasis on parcel post (they are losing letters, but there is a growing business in delivery of online orders.

To stop the rush of people stocking up before the price increase next March
all Canada Post corporate outlets and the franchised RPOs pulled the
"permanent" stamps from sale until after the price increase.

I was however able to find a retailer that just sells stamps but doesn't
offer full RPO services that had a good quantity left over. (They didn't
get any memo from Canada Post like the RPOs did so they can still sell
through remaining stock, I'm pretty sure they won't be able to order
more once those are gone though.) So I bought myself a roll of 100,
now I'm covered for a few decades of in Canada letter mailing. ^_^

I'm still stuck with whatever the new international postage rates will be
after the increase for my U.S. bound mail as they only did "permanent"
stamps for domestic mail. (Canada Post brought them out a year or two
after the USPS rolled out their "forever" stamps.)
