And the blog follow-on comments just support his argument (which isn't new, but has rarely been expressed better). Lacking a society changing black swan event to force us together or provide a truly common rallying point when our backs are to the wall (the Pulse shooting clearly didn't do this, as the aftermath was hijacked by the special interests) our US "culture" no longer exists and is fragmented. The issues we're seeing this year with the two major political parties supports that - the establishments are nearly dead. Trump won representing the anti-establishment right, and Sanders nearly won from the anti-establishment left (he would have won if he had started earlier with a better organization). Even if HIllary wins the parties as they used to exist are dying. If Hillary is elected I wouldn't be surprised to see her impeached by a multi-partisan vote at some point.

My son summed it up nicely in the car today when the radio was on. "How many times do we have to relive it?"
