Arrested For Manipulating The Gold Market

"Here is what got far less publicity: it wasn't just any futures that were spoofed - all the banks and traders busted were charged for spoofing the precious metals market, i.e. gold and silver. We bring this up because there are still the occasional idiots out there who say gold and silver were never manipulated."

Sadly, in my opinion, these are just slaps on the wrist of the big players and things will continue as usual. The "so called" fines are laughable and I'm sure are viewed as just the cost of doing business. Who gets that money anyway? It's sure is not the folks hurt by the manipulation is it! Nothing to see here, move along please...

I remember the first time I read one of these manipulation stories years ago and got really excited thinking that could make a big difference in the price of metals. I've seen so many stories (not just PM's but manipulation of the LIBOR (interest rates), oil, the "London Whale" that cost J.P. Morgan billions of dollars, etc. etc.) that now I just yawn when I see another one. And that is SAD!!!!
Former stock broker w/ ~20 yrs. at one company. Spoke with 100k+ people and traded a lot (long, short, options, margin, extended hours, etc.).

NOTE: ANY stocks I discuss, no matter how compelling, carry risk- often
substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.
