State of the Union

Who watched Mr Teleprompter last night? I saw a few minutes before work.

Just curios as what everyone thought. What I heard sounded like campaigning.

I will give him credit. The dude can spin a speech (teleprompter or no). I actually halfway enjoy listening to him, even though I disagree with about 98.8% of what he says.

I personally thought it was much more a campaign speech than a state of the union address. In classic fashion, he gave us about 100 things the government needs to do/be involved in/pay for/subsidize without ever talking about how to pay for it (other than the classic tax the rich). I also thought it was interesting that he didn't really discuss the debt/deficit other than mentioning "we cut 2 trillion from the deficit" a few times.

I guess it was about what I expected. The Republicans are going to have a hard time running against him, in my opinion. He can't really run on his record, but he can run on promising money/jobs/college tuition/assistance/etc. It will be interesting.

Didn't Donald Ducks parents reside in Canada? I'm not sure he could produce a valid birth certificate.

Listening to him speak is like standing on the shoreline of the ocean as a Tsunami is about to hit. You want to stand there and marvel as the water retreats back into the ocean 100 feet. It is AMAZING and breath taking. Then the destruction begins.

He is a great speaker ( as was Hitler ) but his actions are destructive.

I have seen Donald Duck orange juice. So he must have been born in Florida, or at least he can get a fake real birth certificate from FL.

That is exactly what I was telling my wife last night. A great speaker can lead the masses to their own destruction and they will never see it coming.

I didnt get to see it....was watching the paint dry on my walls.

I know the state of the union already, and it sucks.

+1

i thought gov. daniels (IN) rebuttal was decent - it was simple to understand at least
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Cain is a former member of the Fed, and we all know where Paul stands. With a strong central banker as VP, I don't think Paul would last very long.

I'd like to see a Paul/Jesse Ventura ticket. Ventura is just unpredictable enough to prevent 'accidents' from happening to Paul, and made a hell of a good libertarian governor. His only problem was his tendency to tell the truth too often. I still remember the outrage when a single mother college student complained that he cut free daycare while she attended school. His answer was that it was her choice to have the kid out of wedlock, and she needed to accept responsibility for taking care of her child.

So what is the problem with saying that? :D
