It's been Way too long since I changed my Oil.

I had to swap out a starter in the Toyota today so I thought I may as well buy oil and filters for both work trucks.

6 Bucks a quart! WTF, are you kidding me?

I will not walk by motor oil, spray oil or 2 cycle oil at garage sales.

Maybe its a good product to hoard when prices are low.

At least O Rielly has 5 quarts of valvoline with a filter for $24 they let you buy a total of 2 sets per customer.

No, just standard oil. Why? Should I be using synthetic?

No I am not saying you should be using it. The cost of synthetic oil is usually $6.00 - $8.00 per quart. $6.00 a quart for regular oil seems high.

Hell yea it's high! Blew my mind. Seems like yesterday it was $1 a quart. Am I just getting old?

A few days/weeks back I mentioned oil as one of the inflation indicators since I am managing a 6 vehicle (family) fleet. Try replacing batteries on the cheap. It ain't happening anymore.

yea, the oil and batteries are not cheap anymore.

I have to change oil in all of mine this month and batteries in two of them.

I. I have a 1992 restored 1/2 ton extended truck that I bought new.
started life as a GMC.
it hold 5 quarts, of synthetic oil and a filter. it is a Texas Show truck if you ever saw one.
I use it for shows only now. it has had 5 shows since the restoration and won first place in all 5 shows.

2. a 1996 chevy work truck 3/4 ton it hold 7 quarts and a filter nothing special about it, but it is a good looking truck. the oil is synthetic 20-30 and a filter.

3. a 4 door Powerstroke dually show truck that has won 76 first place, and a pile of other trophys.
I use it to pull my travel trailer to shows.
it holds 4 gallon with a filter.
it uses Chevron Delo 20-50 synthetic.

4. I have a Pontiac Solstice convertable that holds 5 quarts.
I use 5-20 synthetic valvoline in it.

5. I have a new Mustang that uses 5-20 Motorcraft.
I use 5-20 motorcraft synthetic in it with 6 quarts and a filter.

6. I`am currently dealing wiith a guy on a 1965 Mustang.
it is a trailer queen winning shows now and after I buy it, but transportation when the TSHTF.
when TSHTF do you think the newer cars with all the electronics
will work ?

I change my vehicles oil and filter every 4K miles.
I know they say to change every 5 to 10K miles with synthetic oil, but that just seems to me to far a part.
I use enough Stabil in the gas to keep the company in business.

NOW SOMEONE DONATE SOME OIL TO THE CAUSE.
THE CAUSE IS CAUSE I NEED THE OIL.

.

the batteries are expensive because a guy stopped at my shop 6 months ago and said he was dealing straight with a man in China and he would offer the more than anyone else. I said well talk to me give me what you pay for the batteries.
he said $24 each so we found him 60 batteries that day.

$24 for used up batteries?

that is exactly what he paid in cash.
the scrap yards here were paying 2 to 10 dollars for them at the time.
he said he would be back, so we are saving all our old batteries for him to pick up.

I told him I could go to WalMart and buy new tractor and lawn mower batteries for not much more that.
he said the small don`t pay that much, but I didn`t ask how much they were, because we didn`t have any that size.

How do we find these people that are paying $24 for used batteries?

Dang Beau that is a lot of oil changing...if you were using conventional I would supply you a drum and drive over and pick it up from you when full.

Thogey quit your whining...try changing oil on a Powerstroke...four gallons, thats GALLONS

It's the only time I shop at Wally World...buying oil. I, like franklin have a family fleet...three trucks, a Suburban, two sedans and a zoomer, a RX-7. I have 8000 miles on the oil in the RX-7 and the oil is still clear. I use Rotella in the 'stroke and go 10k miles, Royal Purple in the rest so I dont have to change for 20K miles.

Ouch...I thought a Cummins was bad, but they only take three gallons.

As much as I hate wal-mart, their oil is the cheapest. Sometimes even cheaper than the sales at the auto parts stores.

Sell your only battery for $6, then mention what a great deal you got.

I just had a look out in the garage and was happy to see 6 gallons of oil sitting on the shelf. That's one of the things I stocked up on when it looked like inflation was about to kick in.

It also reminded me about http://www.fleetfilter.com. If you go through a lot of filters, they're hard to beat. They carry the Wix line (the same as Napa Gold) for about half the price, and offered free shipping with a hundred dollar order the last time I used them.

Yes, you are.

Just run the used oil through an old sock and use it again.

I was scrapping some metal the other day and they had 3-4 55 gallon Mobil synthetic oil drums in the steel pile. I started wondering if they deliver the full drums in an armored car...
