BAILOUT-BOUND: Ireland, looking to bolster its debt-crippled banks, edged closer to taking a bailout loan from the European Union. Talks with the EU, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund are expected to run into next week.

PORTUGAL NEXT?: Analysts say Portugal may be the next country in the 16-nation eurozone to need assistance.

DISMAL DEFICIT: Portugal has the eurozone's worst current account deficit, which means its residents consume far more than they export. While the 16-nation bloc's current account deficits average just 1 percent, Portugal's is 12.3 percent.

After Portugal - Spain, which is 7 times larger of a bailout. We are helping bail out these countries in Europe with our 17% contribution to the IMF. We are in worse shape than all of Europe and we are bailing them out? Several US States are in worse shape than Spain. We are in a heap of trouble in the US, and no one will bail us out.
