I have a macabre interest in seeing minimum wage laws abolished. I think deflation would happen and all the illegal/under-the-table labor would not be as much a competition to taxed labor. Funny thing is, it would make businesses think things would be great as payrolls could be cut overnight but they would see workers abandon them and go start their own businesses to compete against them with. In a way, I'd love corporate America to get a dose of their own preaching. Mind you, if they never raise minimum wage ever again, businesses will still complain decades from now that the government forces them to pay $7.25/hour. OK, have it you way. Eliminate minimum wage. I'll survive somehow if my wage gets cut commensurately as as everyone else, but be prepared for more people to start competing businesses as now they can pay people on open bid wages. Imagine the deflation.

The pay reflects the product you are producing. McDonald's sells nothing that warrants $15 per hour pay. The people wanting this to happen have no concept of running a successful business.

If they raise minimum wage, are they going to raise the maximum wage allowed to receive government "assistance" ?

These jobs tend to supplement their "free" government money as it keeps them under the max wage allowed.

Racket for sure.
