Trans-Pacific Partnership

aka TPP, aka "Fast Track"....

with all the news this week in the main stream media, it seems the biggest news of all has been lost in the shuffle...

TPP has passed the house and senate and is now on the presidents desk....

today America awoke a different nation, and not because of the news that was reported, but because of the news that wasn't.

my thoughts on this is that we are in BIG trouble, and over the next week or so, we might find out more to the story than what was initially reported. Much of this has been kept secret and confidential. It is being predicted this will affect every aspect of our lives, from the food we eat to our constitutionally protected rights, even the 2nd amendment.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this topic, or predictions of what is to come?

I havent been able to verify much of anything about it myself. Austrailians have been talking about this for YEARS though I know that much. From their perspective this was all good for the US, and hurt austrailians. Very disconcerting that info on it is held so close to the chest when it is supposed to be so important.

it's been a rough week

first fast track, then 0bamacare subsidies upheld, then states rights were squashed by a twisted interpretation of the constitution by senile and/or homo justices

then to top it off the White House, "his house" , was lit up like a freakin rainbow

I don't even know what to say anymore :(

more thoughts on the tpp later...

The day after TPP was passed my local paper had a decent article about its passage. The only thing missing from it was the name of the bill and its abreviation, TPP. That's not suspect, naaah, of course not!

TPP is definitely bad for America(ns).

I find comments like this more troubling.
I'm sure most of you "conservative" guys have no problem with homosexuality when you jerk off to lesbian porn.

my comment is MORE troubling than the tpp ?? really ??

these un-elected-by-the-people justices' job is to interpret the constitution - not twist the due process clause to advance their own personal agendas - judicial activism

dont mistake my anger as being directed towards same-sex couples or their supporters

if government needs to be involved in marriage at all, then this is a states-rights issue - let the people decide

Rainbow White House was bad, I feel. What if that crazy kid that killed the church people had posted pics with the rainbow flag instead of the Confederate one? I don't care that gay people can now get married and divorced throughout America good for them (and our economy) but to color the White House as a sign of what? That Obama did it? Yes. the Empire State Building and Niagara Falls all went Rainbow as well... Pink. Blue or Green don't color it the White House for any one cause!

The TPP is just going to advance the process of corporate dominated globalization where stateless multinationals will have even more power to drive down wages in a race to the bottom by using slave like labor, and poison you and rest the natural world without any repercussions while pursuing their highest noblest goal of short term profits. It is a global fascist system that is being created where the multi-national corporations (which include banks and financial corporations) run the whole show. No taxes, just subsidies for them, while you and any other possible competition get taxed heavily.

I can so greatly appreciate the spectrum rainbow of thought processes our membership shares with us all.

blackrabbit:

I have not had a chance to read the TPP in detail but, what I have read seems to back your well said paragraph above.

Is it that simple? I mean the US has used globalization to wage a type of war and empire building ever since ww2. This has definitely concentrated alot of wealth and power so far, but was that the main goal? Another side effect has been lifting up a large portion of the worlds most destitute to a point they have almost reliable ways to eat now. The rates of what is called "extreme poverty" went from about 40% in 1990 to about 20% by 2010. Mostly a product of globalization. to be clear Im not arguing it is a good thing, Im just not convinced the real goals are as simple as greed itself. They sure as heck havent been so far. They seem to have a longer term goal of pushing india and china into this. More Id say but Ive got alot to get done today.

bigotry was not my intent - I'm sorry it came off that way

I know you and I share many of the same views - i guess I've just had it with social issues being the only thing that gets folks fired up!

sorry frugi , back to the tpp...

Most of the TPP has been kept secret. Why? Can't be good for us.
