Walmart Supercenter produce:
hot house tomatoes 1.99 pound
roma tomatoes n/a
iceburg lettuce .99 head
green peppers 1.44 each
Save A Lot produce:
slicing tomatoes 2.59 pound
roma tomatoes 2.59 pound
iceburg lettuce 2.59 head
green peppers 1.39 each
jalpeno peppers (usa) 1.39 pound
sweet onions (usa) 1.19 pound
Wally is absorbing some produce costs. Won't last long. Canned tomato products have also gone up ten to 15 cents. Canned luncheon meat, OK, OK, I like Turkey Spam and it's up a dime a can.

I started a new organic garden two years ago. Getting it ready for when I really need it. Looks like that will be this summer!

wait for 18 months after Qe II started; couple that with the end of QE II, and the recent hikes in oil (with a possible QE III starting).... My thought is Q1 next year for the great PRICE SURGE.

Driving home from work this Sunday, 28/FEB/2011, doing a little DXing on the AM band of the car radio. Tuned in WCBS 880 khz, NYC. Listened to a story about produce prices and availability for restaurants.
You wanna slice a tomato ondat burger? You gots ta ask for it, and maybe pay a premium for it.
Story ended with: 'conditions might last thru April.'
