I was looking through the Swedish Central Bank's web site and noticed they
are part way through doing an almost complete change out of their circulating
currency. (Everything but the 10 Kroner coin.)
Also they seem to be giving people a very short time window of transition...
...especialy on coins which will be disavowed and entirely unredeemable after
August 31, 2017!
I can see people who visit there once every few years and retain their left over
vacation money not catching wind of this and getting burned because they didn't
know to cash it out in time.
More info here.
Of course they are also a NIRP country too...
I can just imagine the complete utter chaos that would occur if the Fed tried
to do that with the U.S.$ on that kind of time line! Both in the country (due
to people's 'mattress money') and outside the country. (Dollarized economies
as far away as Zimbabwe, every Canadian and Mexican has _some_ U.S.$
around, U.S. coins co-circulating in Canada, etc.)
