Does Dr. Copper have it wrong?

Usually, copper is a pretty good leading indicator of economic strength. Over the past 3 months we've seen a 10% pop in copper, but the stock market sure isn't buying it. It could be that the domestic issues with the USA are driving the market lower, while the global market demand for copper is more than compensating for the difference??? Thoughts?
