Of course, the complient local news organ says she was joking. Didn't sound very funny to me.

Speaking to a Cary Rotary Club today, N.C. Gov. Bev Perdue suggested suspending Congressional elections for two years so that Congress can focus on economic recovery and not the next election.

"I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won't hold it against them, whatever decisions they make, to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that," Perdue said. "You want people who don't worry about the next election."

Oh, yes. "Suspend elections". The next election should be a recall election.

Economic recovery will happen when these anti-business big spenders leave office.

Gov Purdue spend the next couple of days trying to convince everyone (including herself) that she was just kidding., The media was accused of taking this out of context, but it certainly got a lot of radio play by the conservative talk shows.

Just another stupid politician trying to make a name for themself by suggesting or advocating the abandonment of the Constitution. Seems to be a bumper crop of those buffoons these days. Sickening.
