Need to boogie before Hurricane Milton?

Are you in the path of the storm? I believe @68Camaro could see some wind and flooding.

Y'all take care out there.

It's a cat 5, except for getting away from the storm surge, there is nowhere to boogie to. :|

Fare thee well. I hope the looters don't survive.

We know many people on the west coast. Many have evacuated inland, which at least saves them from the surge.

As far as looters, as DeSantis addressed them directly this morning. "This is a 2nd amendment state, you don't know what is on the other side of that door."

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. You hate to send your problems in a different direction for others to have to deal with, but we wouldn't mind the actual path continuing to drift a few more miles to the south. We were dead on the centerline last night but morning predictions show us on the left side now - more rain, less wind. We would prefer that.

It will increase in diameter and as it does it will drop in maximum speed, expected to be a cat3 at landfall; it will still be a 100mph cat2 as it goes past Orlando, and it will exit the state still at cat1 level.

I've been watching these guys for years. Cleetus has a racetrack, hanger, shop, merch operation, airstrip, home, home hanger/garage, multiple helicopters, a plane, and countless vehicles all in the Bradenton area. As do many of his buddies. They are putting the highest value vehicles up on the lifts, strapping down anything they couldn't get inside a building, and are stocked up on supplies. He just secured a fuel truck with 3000 gallons of jet fuel for his helicopter. He and his wife spent several days up in NC (along with dozens of other private helicopter pilots) flying water, medication, Starlinks, and people around and is prepared to do the same now at home.

We survived fine, more than many people can say. We lost power this morning and are running on generator. We lost a large tree that took out a fence and a neighbors tree, but no other damage. Our friends and family are OK, though most without power. My wife's aunt and uncle had their house flooded in Bradenton.

Thanks for the report, 68. Relieved to hear that you’re doing well. Any word on how long you’ll be without power?

No yet on power. They have just started doing assessments. Could be back on today, or be several days.

They actually got power back on, here, the same night. Internet had gone down after the storm passed, was out the rest of the day, by this morning it was back up. My daughter's house didn't lose power, though they did during Ian 2 years ago. And the rain for them this time v Ian was less bad; they were surrounded by water during Ian, though not flooded. This time their access road flooded over but it peaked there at 29 feet v normal of 20. It hit 33 feet after Ian.

So in some places Milton was less bad than Irma or Ian. In other places Milton was obviously much worse.

Glad to hear you survived without having to use a snorkel. Is Milton the last one of the hurricane season?

South Texas is very dry. Wish some of that rain would come our way.

The season continues for 6 more weeks, though they get less frequent and less powerful. The exceptions prove the rule though, so I would rather not see an exception this year.
