My wife and younger son Theodore just got back from the East Coast and she saw this bank in DC and took some photos of it for Franklin. She did not get the name of the bank.

This is why they can't afford to pay me any interest on my savings account.

Looks like they are saving money by not having any employees, too.

Wow! I mean...WOW! That is beautiful
I'd bet that bank was built when it held real money.
Imagine the sound of copper or silver bouncing off that floor :)

We were in Springfield, Ill three weeks ago Visited Downtown an saw a similar bank One teller an a bank trainee greeting people, beautiful polished Marble columns and floors twenty foot ceiling, wife an I only customers for 15 minutes. Their claim to fame is the original ink entries of Abraham Lincoln Bank Account from 1853. After several prior bank failures in 1851 the General Assembly of the State of Illinois enacted legislation establishing Springfield Marine and Fire Insurance Company, Which bypassed a law  that said the people had to vote to approve ratification of any new bank. This one did last 150 years, but now is a Chase bank??? how much longer

I have always wondered about all the new bank buildings in my area. In the bigger cities around here most banks have either built new buildings or are in the process of building new buildings. And they spare no expense when they build them. A lot of marble and nice wood and fireplaces and unbelievable landscaping. There must be big money in banking.

:?: :?: We've also had some new banks built, or buildings modified for use as banks.
