Normally I don't post much in this section of the board but I thought it would be interesting to note that a long time company that has been in business for 25 years providing emergency food i.e. Nitro-pak i.e. http://www.nitro-pak.com/ is making people aware of the delay time in getting their order.

The demand for emergency foods is at an all time high since the days of Y2K (1999) right now. This has affected EVERY preparedness company in America. It has been growing and growing over the past several weeks and remains very high. Because of this demand, our order processing time has likewise significantly increased.

Processing Time: 3-45 days

Food units and canned foods may take up to 20-45 business days

See Letter: http://www.nitro-pak.com/nitro-pak-shipping-update

Maybe it is the weather?

Maybe people who are buying are concerned over world unrest?

Maybe people see food pricing going up and want to stock up?

Regardless of the reason...it is more than interesting to see it happening!

Interesting info. The only companies I've actually ordered dehydrated food from (as opposed to dehydrating my own, given my OCD tendencies with dehydration) are BulkFoods.com (banana chips and tomato powder--very satisfied with both) and WaltonFeed.com (just got a sample pack of about 15 items--good prices on the items themselves, but shipping costs are too high for my liking). Having said that, though, I can see where a lot of people would think that even with somewhat high shipping costs, the need for food storage more than offsets the costs in the long run. I'm planning to place another large order with BulkFoods in the next several weeks (after I take care of more important things like paying for stuff for my wedding!) ;)
