Copper mining (57 miners and 80,600lbs)

Postby mtalbot_ca » Sun Oct 28, 2012 4:29 pm

I would be interested to know how much copper pounds do the members of this fine mining community extract from circulation each year. I propose that through this thread we each indicate the following:

1. FV sorted by period (average an amount by week or month)
2. Indicate average % of CU
3. Machine or hand sorted

I'll compile the results as often as I can until no more members indicate their mining activities.

For me:

1. 25FV per week
2. 47%
3. Hand sorted

For me, my handsorting totals are about 100 pounds or a little more. I do manage to pick up small amounts of Canadian coppers and nickels from my LCS from time to time.

It's hard to put a set amount on my sorting. But I do a MINIMUM of $100 per week. Some weeks it's much more; if a bank calls, I go. Know what I mean? :)

Let's say $150/week average.
I get about 23% copper, I guess.
And that's a Ryedale accomplishment, not just my own.

Of that 30% about 7% is Canadian, not that it matters, just something I keep track of separately.

Canada made coppers up through 1996, lots more copper in circulation up there.

Then I'm definitely living on the wrong side of the continent.
