A win win for me!

Postby ffej » Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:13 am

Went ot my local bank today where i get a couple boxes a week from and asked the vault teller if she would order me $400.00 a week in cents ( she knows i'm searcning for copper ). She said she would order as much as I want under one condition, I have to bring the zincs back to the same branch each week so they can give them out to the buiness customers...My answer,...um....ok...

I guess this needs to be moved over to the copper forum, and i have no idea how to do that...Sorry guys..

Interesting... not how things usually work. Better mark your rolls with red ink or something so you don't resort rolls again.

Do they required them to be rolled? 400 in rolls?

I always reroll my zincs, never had access to a Penny acrcade in any bank around here, and all my rolls are marked. In my town, which is small, I only get sealed brinks boxes. I get boxes from a lot of different banks and dump at the banks who wont order for me and had a few start ordering for me to get off my dump route.

Mine usually don't decide to start ordering for me to get off the dump route.. they just cut me off. But I try to spread it around really well so no one branch gets too much action. Haven't been cut off in a long while.

Well i found out something from the vault teller, she said she knows I've been getting Pennies for a few years for my "art" project, but asked why are all these new customers asking to order a couple hundred dollars worth. I told her i thought i seen somewhere on t.v. about a group of people saying zinc pennies or something like that. She said she never seen it before and it just started a week or so ago, she said when I return my pennies, she was going to give them to the customers.... Sounds good to me :-)

I like that plan. Make sure you dump several hundred face so you can satisfy that new demand.

Good for you! I just found a CU that will sell me bags off the coin counter. I asked if they had anybody that regularly brought in pennies and she said no so I bought a $50 bag and it was over 20% in copper.

Took me going to all the places that have counters before I found this one. It did take the manager 3 days to get back with me as she had to get permission. I originalyy apprached it with it will save them money as they will not have to pay to ship it out.

My mom is a branch manager, and a Vice President at a bank here in NY so, I have the same setup, I get 4 boxes on Tuesday, and then bring 1 or more back daily, until Saturday. So I usually do between 6-8 boxes a week, and all of my zincs go back to the same bank. I have to roll them all, but I can roll a roll in less than 15 seconds, with the flat rolls,(I just hold all 50 pennies in one end, open the wrapper, and slide them in and close, takes no time at all). I send them back in in the same boxes, I just cover the top with tape, and get a brand new box ever time. Plus I have 4 tellers there, that save me all the copper pennies, and any silver they come across.

Sounds like you have the perfect setup....as far as rerolling, i use a plastic tube I bought at walmart that holds 50 pennies in it...takes about 15 sec also. I can do 4 o5 rolls a minute..

That happened to me too, but I live in a town of only a few hundred, so they don't circulate many pennies. I think when I picked up $100, I got about half their supply!

Wow, nice setup. Congrats!
