So, that's 19 down since the 3rd week in November...+3 more sitting on my table...and at least 5 or 6 waiting for me come Monday morning. I can't get to the dump bank or the bag bank til then.

MY EYES!

This is the best time of year to get coins from the machines. I see it all day. I work at the credit union where I purchase my bags and people are coming in constantly with the change they've been saving all year to spend on Christmas. We aren't that big but we've been getting 16+ bags of various coins per week with most of them being pennies.

Isn't there a big rush after Christmas....when the credit card bills start coming in?

This is usually a heavy (literally) time of year for banks in general.

If you want to be nice, absorb coin in the heavy months of December and January and then deposit coins later in the spring and summer. Banks usually love to get rid of coinage if they have run out of storage room and have to pay money to call a truck in to cart some away.

I wouldn't have suggested it back when the interest rate was a couple percent, but nowadays its no biggie to wait a few months (and you may get the thanks of your local teller)
