So , if the silver coin melt ban wasn't lifted until 1969 ( five years after the change),
how long will take to lift the cent/nickel melt ban ?

I found the fourth point in the "Arguments for Preservation" to be interesting,

Deflationary effects — Some have argued that because inflation raises production costs of the penny to exceed its value, this imposes limits on the amount of inflation that can be caused by central banks.


Unfortunately, no source was cited so i have no idea of the qualifications of those some who have made this argument.
