I might be stretching here, but of all pre 1970 BUs I find, it seems like 1968 takes the prize!it is by far the most sixties date BU I have found. they always seem to be in great shape. anyone else? TY for any feedback.

I have gotten them too. I got a few boxes earlier this year that yielded about two dozen BU looking coins from the mid to late sixties, with 1968 and 1964 being the most prevalent years. The same thing happened in late 2009. When it happened the first time I assumed that someone dumped a collection, however I checked with another local member (about 20 miles away) and he was seeing the same thing. Therefore, it would have to have been an awfully big collection. Another possibility is that someone at the U.S. mint is periodically dumping old surplus boxes from the sixties into the general circulation to clear out some storage space.

In what part of the country are you located?

I find '64's to be pretty common as well.

I made a bag of those BU... working on another one. I'm also surprised at how many BU 59's I find. (Trying to make a bag of those also) Kind of like the really nice 39 Nickels... Makes you wonder, "Where have you been laying around for all of these years?"

Of the million or so pennies I have sorted over the past year, I've found a large amount of BU coppers.

Here are the BUs that I typically find:

1956
1958
1959
1960 small and large
1961
1962
1963
1968
1969
1970
1971
1972
1973
1974

Fun stuff.
