If they are just commons I'd guess around 5 cents/each coin so about 2.50 a roll

So you really don't know. Wheats sell between 1.5 to 3 cents apiece to someone in the biz. Unsearched wheats of course sell for far more on feebay...Good Luck there.

3-3.5 cents each for common date 40's and 50's if you can find a buyer. 3.5-4.5 cents each for searched mixed bags and, 4 cents to the sky's the limit for whatever the buyer will pay for true original unsearched bags. Hope that helps. It's better to save up at least 10.00 face worth to maximize shipping in a small flat rate box.....

If you plan on buying to collect/store/hoard than 4-5 cents for mixed/unsearched depending on the mix on what you can see and 3 cents for common dates.

If you plan on buying to resale or flip then 2 cents for commons (to sell for 3-3.5 cents) and 3-4 cents for mixed/unsearched (to sell for 3-3.5 cents for the commons and premiums for the rest)

I bought 147 rolls @ $1 each at the flea market. They were sorted 40s and 50s, hoping there's some mistakes.

My suggestion? Auction them here. If you are including "all your wheats," I will start with $20 for all 800. That price includes shipping in a flat rate priority box. Oh, and since you are kinda new, you will probably need to ship them first.

Or you can try your luck at a local coin shop or other antique-y type place. You would not be dealing with the cost of shipping that way, but I've been offered everywhere from 2c to 5c each in the last year, locally. You can bet I unloaded EVERY one I could at 5c.

If you do decide to auction them off here, let me know. I will start you off...

I have bought a fair amount of wheats. The only ones I would pay 5 cents for in a mixed "unsearched" bag is from HCBTT his are well worth it. If they are a certain decade 10's, 20's 30's then I would pay more from 4 cent to 10 cent each. Common 40's and 50's 3 cents in my ceiling. Again just my view. Looking back I wish would have bought silver instead of wheats from the start. Of course i just like coins.
Selling US pennies 1.9 face shipped. Never mind I am keeping everything!

as was suggested i will probably save up till i have $10 face to sell. i havent at all checked the wheats for errors and such. a quick glance at them i noticed a 1919 in there and a few other 20's and such. should i bother going through these to sell the 20's and lower for 5 cents and the 40's/50's for 3 cents? I machine sort copper pennies and hand sort the coppers for wheat and throw em in rolls in a box in my corner. wasnt sure if i should be doing more sorting to the wheats or can i sell these as "unsorted"?

I have a coin shop in my area that pays .03 per wheat, and I was considering selling a little bit of my wheat stash to raise some cash. Can anyone tell me if there are any dates or mint marks that are worth hanging on to from the 40's and 50's? I would keep the 1943 steel pennies to myself but are there any particular CU wheats from those decades that might be worth keeping? I have a decent number of wheats, and I don't need to necessarily sell any at this point either, but I thought I could sell a portion to invest in other assets. Any thoughts appreciated.

For what it's worth. I have a couple of dealers who buy any and all wheats all day long at 3¢ each.

Man is that for sorted 40's and 50's P&D mints?? Even if so, that's still a good price, you could flip them quickly for a modest profit....

I sold two $10FV lots on ebay this past weekend for $35 and $25. 40-50's common dates. They were just sitting around taking up space.

Hi iatetacos,

Personally I wouldn't sell what you have. Is a $20-$40 profit really going to help you with your hobby? I also don't like buying common wheats above 3 cents unless there are other dates in the mix.

There's a reason the 40's and 50's are called commons. There's so many of them around and so many people continuing to hoard them. The value of 40's and 50's wheats probably won't increase beyond 5 cents for a while. That could change if the melt ban is lifted.

I would back up the truck for that price. I would buy an unlimited amount at 2.25 cent each.
